Reflecting on the difficulties of bowling against them, Lyon admitted, “The secret to getting them out, something that I struggle to do, would be trying to challenge their defense for a long period of time.”

In a video statement, the veteran spinner discussed his pride in reaching the 500-wicket milestone, achieved in his 123rd Test match. Lyon expressed, “It’s something I’m very proud about, I don’t think it’s hit me yet. There’s obviously been a lot of hard work gone into the journey, and I’ve had a lot more bad days than good days, but to be back out there in the middle … it’s pretty special.”
