After registering the largest win while chasing a target larger than 200 against the Sri Lankans, Team India is raring to lock horns with the hosts on August 24 in Kandy.
The home side also lost the 3-match Test series terrifically to Team India and now, they desperately need at least 2 wins in order to avoid playing the qualifier games for World Cup 2019.
Meanwhile, the team manager of Sri Lanka has revealed that national anthems will no more be sung during the series. As per several media reports, the rule states that the national anthem is to be played only in the first match of any series.
While speaking to the media personnel, Sri Lanka team manager Dinesh Ratnasingham said, ”We have adopted the practice of singing National Anthem only at the beginning of each format of the game.”
The media manager of Sri Lanka further added, ”The teams sang their respective National Anthems in the first ODI match at Dambulla. They will sing again before the commencement of the only T-20 match on September 6. Rest of the venues will have the immediate start of the match without the Anthem Ceremony.”
It has become a tradition in International cricket that the teams sing their national anthems before the match starts as the anthem is considered as a representation of national pride and commitment for a player.
Talking about the ongoing ODI series, the hosts would be raring to make a strong comeback. They have already had their captain replaced after they lost the ODI series against Zimbabwe recently. Newly appointed captain Upul Tharanga has to bring out something unique in order to change the fortunes of the team.
