Despite failing to make an impression with the bat in the recently-concluded Women’s T20 Challenge, Nattakan Chantam garnered a lot of limelight with her stunning fielding in the final of the competition on Monday. The Thailand star is one of the most sought after T20I batter in women’s cricket but failed to do much with the bat in the tournament.
Playing for Trailblazers, Chantam did not get a chance to bat in the first couple of matches. In the final, she came out to bat with just one ball remaining and unfortunately, got run-out for a duck. But the failure with the bat was soon forgotten as she came up with a stunning piece of fielding to save a certain four from the bat of Jemimah Rodrigues.

Chasing an outside edge off Rodrigues’ bat in the second over, Chantam came out with the best effort of preventing the ball from crossing the boundary line. She was standing at short third-man and chased the ball till the very end before making a full-fledged dive to stop the ball from touching the boundary rope. Later in the game, she produced a sharp catch to dismiss Rodrigues.

Nattakan Chantam’s fielding effort on the field set the social media abuzz as the cricketing fraternity lavished praise on her. And few of those fans also expressed concerns over her neck. After making the save with her breathtaking effort, Chantam had indeed landed in an awkward manner, which left quite a few people concerned. But on Tuesday, she allayed all those fears by stating that she was fine.

Chantam, who is the first player from Thailand to play in the Women’s T20 Challenge, took to Twitter to dismiss the concerns, as he tweeted: “Thanks everyone for asking about my neck but I’m really okay no pain at all”. Interestingly, she had concluded her tweet with emojis of ice cubes, hinting that she had to apply some of them.
