Former India cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu took a humorous dig at former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir after his bold prediction about India’s early exit from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 turned out to be completely wrong. Sidhu’s playful yet pointed remarks quickly caught attention on social media, especially after India sealed their place in the final.

Before the semifinal stage, Amir had confidently predicted that India would not even make it to the knockout rounds. He had also tipped the South Africa and West Indies national cricket teams to contest the final. However, the tournament unfolded very differently. South Africa were knocked out by the New Zealand national cricket team in the semifinal, while India continued their impressive campaign.
Reacting to Amir’s failed predictions, Navjot Sidhu mocked the former pacer in an Instagram video, comparing such forecasters to “fake spiritual gurus.” “People around us have a big habit of making fake predictions. If it comes true, good; if not, they just brush it off,” Sidhu said. “If it works, they call it an arrow; if not, they say it was just a guess.”

Sidhu continued his witty rant by calling such individuals “dhongi babas,” a Hindi phrase used for fake spiritual figures who pretend to possess wisdom. His remarks were widely shared online as fans enjoyed the light-hearted banter between the two former international cricketers.

🚨 Mohammad Amir 🇵🇰 speaks on his semi-final prediction that went wrong:
“India played a complete cricket. It’s not my fault that England dropped catch of an in-form batsman like Sanju.
The difference between the two teams was fielding and Jasprit Bumrah.” pic.twitter.com/JPz9nlDDtJ

The timing of Sidhu’s comment was significant because Amir had also predicted that England cricket team would defeat India in the semifinal. Instead, India produced a thrilling performance, edging England by seven runs to secure a spot in the final.
After the match, Amir defended his earlier statement. While acknowledging India’s strong performance, he suggested that England’s defeat was largely due to a costly dropped catch by captain Harry Brook.

Brook had missed a chance to dismiss Sanju Samson early, and the wicketkeeper-batter went on to play a decisive knock of 89 runs. Ultimately, India posted 253/7 and restricted England to 246/7, proving Amir’s prediction wrong and giving Sidhu the perfect opportunity for a memorable social media response.
