“I am nothing without my father. I wanted to be an army general. But who brought me into cricket? When I cleared my IMA, I came out of the door and heard a voice from behind. Sherry, I am coming back. Don’t go. I am coming. I stayed there. And my whole life started fulfilling his dream. And I am very happy about this,” Navjot Singh Sidhu recounted to Star Sports.

He continued, “But after that, he died. And after his death, I felt that the father who dedicated his whole life to my cricket and to making me a player, otherwise, people usually say become a doctor, become an engineer. If I couldn’t fulfill his dream, then I would be in trouble.”

Navjot Singh Sidhu also spoke about the invaluable lessons his father imparted, emphasizing the crucial role of a father’s guidance in a son’s success. He highlighted the enduring influence of his father’s words and actions throughout his life.

“I spent my whole life, 30 years on the ground of life. Every moment I thought of my father. And my father used to tell me, son, the father is the one whose son is greater than him and earns more name than him. Then the father can go in peace. And the day he died, he used to tell me two lines: ‘When in doubt, walk straight,’” Navjot Singh Sidhu shared.
