After a hiatus from the political arena, Navjot Singh Sidhu, the cricketer-turned-politician, returns to his former domain of cricket commentary, just as the Indian Premier League (IPL) gears up for its upcoming season starting on March 22. Star Sports announced Sidhu’s comeback as a commentator in a post on X, declaring, “Sardar of the commentary box is back,” marking his reentry into the world of sports analysis.

Having previously served as the Punjab Congress chief and holding various political positions, including Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha memberships, Sidhu has decided to abstain from contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

 

 

 

 

 

Despite the Congress’s high command yet to finalize candidates for 13 seats in Punjab, Sidhu remains firm in his decision to stay out of electoral contention.

While absent from events alongside prominent Congress figures like Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and Opposition leader Partap Singh Bajwa, Sidhu has maintained his political activity, organizing parallel demonstrations with loyal Congress supporters in the state.

Sidhu’s return to cricket commentary marks a significant moment after years of political engagement. Beyond his commentary stint, Sidhu has dabbled in various roles, from his appearances on the Kapil Sharma comedy and talk show to his endeavours as a motivational speaker.
