Mumbai Indians (MI) batter, Nehal Wadhera received punishment for arriving late to the team batters’ meeting as the young batter was witnessed roaming at the Mumbai airport while wearing batting pads. He was not fined, but the punishment left him feeling a little embarrassed at the airport.
Notably, the team had a rather novel way of punishing players who failed to come on time for team meetings: they had to travel with the team while wearing a specially designed “punishment jumpsuit.” Mumbai franchise posted a video on their official social media account to show fans Wadhera’s off-field activities. He can be seen striding through the airport with his pads on, alongside his teammates.

Mumbai Indians bought the services of the young cricketer from Ludhiana in the IPL 2023 mini-auction for INR 20 lakh. The southpaw has been consistently good for the MI this season, first grabbing attention for hitting the tournament’s first 100-meter plus six, breaking the mark at the age of 22.
Nehal Wadhera is one of the season’s discoveries and has been performing quite consistently in the batting department for Mumbai in recent matches. He hit a couple of half-centuries in pressure situations against RCB and CSK after making his debut in IPL 2023.

Wadhera made an impressive Ranji Trophy debut in January, when he played a fiery knock of 123 against Gujarat and then an even more impressive 214 against defending champions Madhya Pradesh. In his first Ranji season, he scored 376 runs in seven innings, with an average of 53.71 and two hundred. While Mumbai is currently third in the points table, their win over the Gujarat Titans has helped them get closer to a playoff spot.
