Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Siraj put on a stellar performance against his former franchise, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The speedster picked up three key wickets, including Phil Salt and Devdutt Padikkal, dismantling RCB’s top order and earning widespread praise from fans on social media.

RCB, hosting GT in the 14th match of IPL 2025, faced a fired-up Siraj eager to make a statement. Having spent seven seasons with the Bengaluru-based team before being released into the mega auction, Siraj found the perfect redemption as he tormented his old teammates on their home turf.

After GT opted to bowl first, Siraj struck early, dismissing Devdutt Padikkal with a sharp nip-backer that sent the off-stump flying. His fiery celebration—featuring his signature ‘Siu’ move—set the tone for his spell. Moments later, he delivered a 144 kph thunderbolt to Phil Salt, who misjudged the pace and was bowled clean, leaving RCB in disarray.

Siraj’s heroics reduced RCB to 66/4 within the first nine overs, claiming three wickets for just 19 runs. With Salt, Padikkal, Virat Kohli, and skipper Rajat Patidar back in the hut, RCB struggled to find momentum.

However, the lower order salvaged some hope. Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma, and Tim David provided late fireworks, ensuring RCB had a competitive score to defend. Despite a rocky top order, their intent was never in question—it was a combination of GT’s disciplined bowling and RCB’s questionable shot selection that led to their downfall.

GT started strongly, controlling the game in the first seven overs. However, they momentarily lost grip, with Rashid Khan conceding 54 runs in his four overs. Thankfully for GT, Sai Kishore’s disciplined spell helped contain RCB’s resurgence, preventing them from running away with the game.

With purchase on offer for the bowlers, RCB will back themselves to defend their total. However, GT, armed with confidence and momentum, will look to chase it down efficiently. The stage is set for an exciting second innings—stay tuned for the chase!
