Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal once again showcased his remarkable talent by scoring his 7th Test century against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. With this feat, the 23-year-old left-hander has now become the second-youngest Indian after Sachin Tendulkar to notch up seven Test hundreds before turning 24 — a testament to his consistency and maturity at such a young age.

The ongoing Test marks the second match of the two-Test series between India and the West Indies. On Day 1, Indian skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bat first on what is known to be one of the friendliest batting tracks in India. The decision paid off handsomely as Jaiswal made full use of the surface, displaying composure and class to anchor the innings following KL Rahul’s early dismissal.
Jaiswal, who had been searching for runs after a quiet end to the England series and a low score in the first Test at Ahmedabad, looked determined from the start.

With elegant stroke play and precise shot selection, he blunted the West Indian attack, which appeared largely toothless against India’s top order. He reached his century in just 145 balls, marking his third hundred on home soil, while his other four centuries have come across Australia, England, and the West Indies — showcasing his adaptability across conditions.
At 23, Jaiswal has entered an elite list of cricketing prodigies. Only Don Bradman (12 hundreds), Sachin Tendulkar (11), and Sir Garfield Sobers (9) have scored more centuries before turning 24.
Yashasvi Jaiswal now sits alongside the likes of Javed Miandad, Graeme Smith, Alastair Cook, and Kane Williamson, each of whom had seven Test tons before the age of 24. He also stands as India’s third-highest century-maker in World Test Championship (WTC) history, behind Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma.

Partnering with Yashasvi Jaiswal at the other end was Sai Sudharsan, who made the most of his opportunity following Rahul’s early exit. The Tamil Nadu batter, who had struggled for form in England with just 140 runs in six innings, appeared far more assured this time. At Tea on Day 1, Sudharsan was unbeaten on *71, eyeing his maiden Test century — a potential milestone that could solidify his place as India’s No. 3 ahead of the upcoming South Africa series later this year.
