India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah once again proved why he is regarded as one of the most dangerous bowlers in world cricket during the Super 8 clash between the India national cricket team and the South Africa national cricket team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

The Indian pacer delivered a sensational spell, striking twice in quick succession to put South Africa on the back foot early in the contest. Jasprit Bumrah set the tone in the very first over by dismissing Quinton de Kock for just six runs. Interestingly, the wicket came immediately after the left-hander had punished him with a boundary off a full toss.
Bumrah responded like champions do. He delivered a sharp back-of-a-length ball outside off stump that jagged back in unexpectedly. De Kock attempted to play across the line but missed the ball completely, clipping the leg bail and sending the Indian players into celebration.

India’s dominance continued in the next over when Arshdeep Singh removed South Africa captain Aiden Markram for just four runs. Arshdeep bowled a hard length delivery outside off stump that gripped slightly off the surface. Markram tried to drive it down the ground but failed to time the shot, offering a simple catch to Hardik Pandya at mid-off.
Bumrah then returned to strike again, this time outsmarting Ryan Rickelton. The left-hander had earlier shown intent by smashing Arshdeep for a towering six, but Bumrah cleverly changed his pace. A well-disguised slower delivery completely deceived Rickelton, highlighting the pacer’s remarkable ability to read the game and adapt instantly.
