India’s bowling attack endured a difficult outing in the fourth T20I against the West Indies at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday, October 14. After winning the toss, captain Shreyas Iyer elected to bowl first, but the decision failed to produce the desired results as the visitors piled up a massive total.

Mayank Yadav started with a disciplined over, conceding just three runs. However, the West Indies batters soon took control, racing to 79/1 by the end of the powerplay. Captain Shai Hope continued his impressive run on the tour, smashing an unbeaten 102 off 50 balls to lead the visitors’ batting charge.
Sherfane Rutherford provided excellent support with an unbeaten 49 off 26 deliveries, while Shimron Hetmyer contributed a quickfire 33 from just 12 balls. Their aggressive batting helped West Indies finish at 247/3 in 20 overs, registering the second-highest first-innings total by a team against India in T20I cricket.

Prince Yadav was India’s most economical bowler, conceding 36 runs and taking one wicket in his four-over spell. Arshdeep Singh, Mayank Yadav and Nitish Reddy all recorded economy rates of 13, while Naman Dhir gave away 19 runs in his only over.
India’s disappointing bowling performance triggered criticism from fans on social media, with several supporters expressing frustration over the team’s inability to contain the West Indies batters. Meanwhile, India entered the fourth match with a 2-1 lead in the five-match series, leaving the West Indies needing a victory to keep the contest alive.

The visitors had already demonstrated their batting strength in the second T20I at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, where they chased down India’s 250-run target. Hope starred with an unbeaten 102 off 45 balls, while Rutherford smashed 84 from 37 deliveries. Romario Shepherd then finished the chase with an unbeaten 34 off 13 balls as West Indies reached the target in 18.3 overs, winning by six wickets.
Mayank Yadav claimed three wickets in that match but conceded 36 runs in three overs. With India’s bowlers struggling to contain the opposition across the series, their performance has become a major talking point ahead of the remaining matches.
Our bowlers conceded 248 and now India are on the verge of losing the match AND the series. 😭💔
We need someone to save us from this humiliation, but Virat Kohli isn’t coming this time. 🥲

@BCCI what kind of Joke is this.
It feels like they have made us felt like watch ur flat pitch and flat bowlers. This much sixes, they have hit in this tour will be world record. #savebowlers https://t.co/guxitZElA3— Bharat to India (@Amitkumar87Amit) October 14, 2026
Curators of each pitch played in this ODI and T20 series needs to be talked to. U can’t have absolute belters as result India struggles outside. Again our bowlers doesn’t have that capacity to bowl consistently. India has this unique phenomenon if a player plays well against us

“You don’t want a good bat-and-ball competition? What you want to see, that’s also what we want to see. We also want to see an even contest. These bowlers are our bowlers, not someone else’s bowlers. Their careers are at stake, they have worked hard to sit in this dressing room. If it’s an even competition, we’ll see a better game of cricket.

I humbly suggest that either #bowlers of both teams forfeit their match fee or the cash-rich @BCCI fund and purchase #bowling #robots for use in #T20 matches in #India This kind of series underlines that #INDVSWI

56 off just 23 balls today! 💥 When India needed explosive batting, Sanju delivered yet again, reminding everyone what he can do when he gets going. 🥶🏏
Three big scores near or above 90, multiple impactful knocks, and now another explosive 56 off 23! 💀🔥
Sanju Samson has shown that he can change the momentum of a game in a matter of overs. When he finds his rhythm, bowlers have very little room for error.
Is Sanju finally getting the consistency and recognition he deserves? 👀

Gautam Gambhir was absolutely right when he said “this is not cricket, but it’s just batting”. Tbh white ball cricket in India is becoming an absolute joke (it can be saved).
It’s not even compelling to watch anymore. There is virtually nothing on these surfaces for bowlers, and it completely eliminates the contest between bat and ball. It has gotta be incredibly demoralising for bowlers to operate on these wickets lol.
I mean just imagine new audiences who’ve never seen cricket before watching these white ball games in India, they are gonna get such a distorted perception of what our beautiful sport actually is.
I ain’t asking for minefields. I am a strong believer that T20s should lean slightly in favour of batters, that’s part of what makes it exciting for viewers(and broadcasters), but there is a world of difference between a 60-40 contest and a 90-10 one. The former creates a spectacle and the latter reduces cricket to a glorified hitting contest, and that’s not what it is AT ALL.
There has to be a balance. When conditions are so heavily skewed in favour of one discipline, you’re not enhancing the entertainment value of the sport but you’re actually sacrificing its essence. Come on.
