Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have opened their account in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 points table with a thrilling six-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Meanwhile, players and coaching staff of both the teams caught up following the conclusion of the match, and among them were CSK wicket-keeper batter MS Dhoni and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir. Over the years, they have played a lot of cricket together and a lot has been said and written about their relationship. There were rumors of bad blood between the two as Gambhir, who has been an active analyst after retirement, has openly criticized the batting of MS Dhoni and his tactics on several occasions.

It was also believed that Dhoni, the then Indian captain, had a hand in Gambhir’s ouster from the national team. Gambhir, however, in a recent interaction, cleared the air and rubbished the rumors of any rift between him and Dhoni. Meanwhile, the former teammates were seen having a chat after the game. Gambhir shared a couple of pictures from that interaction and captioned them as: “It was nice catching up skipper!”

The clip of the interaction went viral as for many it brought back memories when the two stalwarts of the game played together and also helped India win the 2011 World Cup Final.

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir had stated that he has a lot of mutual respect for Dhoni and he would be the first one to support the former Indian skipper if any need arises. During a chat with Jatin Sapru, Gautam Gambhir said, “See I have so much of mutual respect for him and it’ll always remain.”

He further added, “I’ve said it on air, I’ll say it on your channel, I can say it anywhere in front of 138 crore people, that if ever in need, I hope he’s never in need, but if ever in need in life, I’ll be the first one standing next to him because of what he’s done for Indian cricket, what he’s as a human being.”
