India and England are currently locking horns with each other in the second ODI of the three-match in Pune. The hosts are batting first again after England‘s stand-in skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to field first. The visitors made three changes to their line-up, Eoin Morgan, and Sam Billings missed due to injury, while Mark Wood made way for Reece Topley. Interestingly, Tom Curran retained his place despite not performing to the expectations in the first ODI.

Though he didn’t do much in the series opener and Tom Curran has managed to trend on social media during the second game. The reason for the same is the headband which he is wearing while bowling. Given his run-up and the headband he is wearing, the fans on social media are busy comparing him with Dale Steyn.

While the elder Curran not being aware of such comparisons, he would definitely love to be compared with the legendary fast bowler in terms of performance. Currently, Tom Curran is going through a tough phase and has been leaking runs especially in the death overs, the phase which he mastered not long ago.

In the last nine ODIs (barring the ongoing ODI) Tom has picked only a solitary wicket. At the same time, he has been extremely expensive, except for a couple of games. Even in the only T20I, the 26-year-old played for England on this India tour, he conceded 26 runs in only two overs.

Overall, in 28 T20Is, has managed to scalp 26 wickets including a four-wicket haul. He is yet to shine with the bat in the shortest format. In 25 ODIs, the fast bowler has accounted for 28 scalps with a five-fer to his name and has also amassed as many as 303 runs often scoring crucial runs for England down the order. Time is definitely running out for Curran and he will be keen to pick wickets like Dale Steyn used to do in his prime.
