Mumbai Indians (MI) have taken firm control of their IPL 2025 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), but Rohit Sharma’s underwhelming form remains a major talking point. Chasing a modest target of 117, MI cruised to 62/1 in 7 overs, well on track to secure their first win of the season.

Despite the team’s comfortable position, Rohit failed to make an impact yet again. Coming in as an Impact Player, he struggled to find his rhythm and was dismissed for just 13 off 12 balls. His innings ended in the 6th over when he mistimed a shot off Andre Russell, handing a simple catch to Harshit Rana.
With MI already in a commanding position at 46/1 when he walked back, Rohit had a golden chance to play a match-winning knock. However, his inability to convert starts into significant contributions continues to be a worrying sign for the franchise.

Rohit Sharma has been a liability for MI in recent years, and he should’ve retired a few years ago. He is the one everyone should be talking about, not Dhoni who is striking good, keeping fastest and bringing the highest TRP. pic.twitter.com/bdAuHBubGd

Earlier in the match, KKR endured a miserable outing with the bat, folding for just 116 in 16.2 overs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi showed some promise with a quickfire 26 off 16 balls, while Manish Pandey added 19. However, the rest of the batting lineup failed to step up.
