The new Perth Stadium is expected to host its first ever Test match in the next summer between India and Australi. The iconic ground is now ready to stage international cricket after the historic WACA hosted its last Test match recently which was the third Ashes game where the hosts regained the urn. However, the huge new Stadium will officially open on January 28 with the One Day International between Australia and England.
Cricket Australia (CA) is expected to announce the program for their next Australian summer for the 2018-19 season in the next month. There are also talks that they might ask India to play their first ever day-night Test in Adelaide which has become the traditional venue for the day-night spectacle. The Test match is likely to be played on a drop-in wicket to replicate the pace and bounce at the WACA.
The New Perth Stadium has the capacity of accumulating 60,000 spectators. The second Test between India and Australia will be played in Adelaide which is also to be expected as a day-night game if the Indian board agrees on the matter. The news was confirmed by Cricbuzz who also stated that the final two Test matches would be the Boxing Day Test and the New Year Test which will be played in Melbourne and Sydney respectively.
