New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson is the next victim who is going to be tested for coronavirus and he has been placed in isolation after complaining of a sore throat. His situation became like this after New Zealand’s first One Day International game against Australia, team officials shared. The right-armed pace bowler was quarantined soon after the 71-run defeat in Sydney on Friday and would remain isolated for at least next 24 hours while tests will take place.

“In accordance with recommended health protocols, Lockie Ferguson has been placed in isolation at the team hotel for the next 24 hrs after reporting a sore throat at the end of the first ODI,” New Zealand Cricket said late Friday. “Once the test results are received and diagnosed, his return to the team can be determined.”

The coronavirus scare has already affected Australian pace spearhead Kane Richardson being isolated and tested for COVID-19 after suffering a sore throat on Thursday as well. He also missed the opening One Day International match but he was cleared of the virus late Friday. On the other hand, fans have been banned from the three-match ODI series in Sydney and Hobart to stay safe amid of coronavirus threat, which has forced them to play in an empty stadium.

The novel coronavirus outbreak affected not only a large number of people but also witnessed a few series cancelled. Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, many sporting events in India and around the globe have been cancelled or postponed as of now.

Alongside this, there have been questions on players’ participation in the Asia XI vs World XI as well which is scheduled to take place in Bangladesh.
