On Friday, Gavin Larsen revealed that Devon Conway and Kyle Jamieson are offered a contract by New Zealand Cricket. NZ chief selector Gavin Larsen revealed Devon Conway’s form was “impossible to ignore” which prompted New Zealand cricket to get him on their payroll before he completed the required three-years residency.
The South-African born isn’t eligible to play for NZ and will have to wait for selection until August. He joins Kyle Jamieson and Ajaz Patel as the 3 new players who were named the 20-strong Black Caps contracted squad.
NZ all-rounder Kyle Jamieson and spinner Ajaz Patel are rewarded with a promotion to the elite group after their performances against India and in the recent past. Colin Munro and Jeet Raval have been dropped from New Zealand’s centrally contracted players’ list. Naturally, Todd Astle also misses out after he announced his retirement.

Devon Conway has been in a rich vein of form in the recent past. The left-handed batsman outscored everyone else in the domestic batting chart in all three formats. He has been a consistent star in the NZ circuit since 2017.
“Devon’s form with the bat across all three formats these past two seasons made him impossible to ignore. He’s going to be a great option to add to the batting mix. Kyle’s performances against the might of India were nothing short of outstanding. At 25 years of age, he’s certainly got a big future. We see Ajaz as the incumbent Test spinner at present. He’ll be looking to stamp his mark on that spot after some superb efforts with the ball in the sub-continent,” Larsen said.
