New Zealand Skipper Ruled Out Of The Wellington T20I

Just ahead the fourth T20I of the five-match series against India at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington, the host New Zealand team has suffered a major setback. The Kiwi skipper, Kane Williamson is out of the New Zealand squad for the fourth T20I. In the absence of Kane Williamson, the Kiwi team will be led by the fast bowler Tim Southee, who will be seen captaining against India in the fourth match.

Williamson has suffered an injury to his left shoulder, due to which he will not be able to make the fourth match. The official Twitter handle of the New Zealand team has been informed that the Blackcaps that skipper has been ruled out of the game on Friday.

Tweeting about the same, official handle of New Zealand team wrote: “Captain Kane Williamson has been ruled out of tonight’s 4th T20I with a left-shoulder injury (AC joint) sustained while diving in the field in game 3. He will hopefully be available for the final game of the series at Bay Oval. Tim Southee will captain the side in T20I 4.”.

According to a statement issued by the Kiwi team, Williamson suffered a shoulder injury while diving in the third T20I. However, he will be available in the fifth and final match of the series.

Team India pulled off a nail-biting win to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand at the Seddon Park In Hamilton On Wednesday. For the longest possible time, the Men in Blue were looking behind in the match with Williamson taking the attack to the leader of their bowling unit– Jasprit Bumrah as he scored 95 runs off just 48 balls.

But the Kiwis went to go past the winning line as Mohammed Shami kept his cool and pulled out an epic final over where he not only claimed the prized scalps of Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor, he also ensured that the game went to the Super Over. The men in blue were chasing as many as 18 runs in the Super Over but the target was overhauled thanks to Rohit Sharma’s whirlwind back-to-back sixes.
