Nicholas Pooran was visibly furious with Abdul Samad after the latter threw away his wicket in the final over of Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The moment unfolded under high-pressure circumstances, with LSG looking to finish strongly after a solid foundation had been laid by the top order.

Heading into the 20th over, LSG were well-placed at 185/4. Pooran, batting on 38 off 24, was the key man to close out the innings with a flourish. At the other end, Abdul Samad was still settling in, having scored just 3 from 4 balls.
Nitish Reddy was handed the ball for the final over, and it began dramatically—with a wide delivery, followed by a thunderous six from Pooran. Another wide came next before Pooran nudged a single, handing a strike to Samad. What followed clearly didn’t sit well with the experienced West Indian.

On the fifth ball of the over, Samad was clean bowled by Reddy, attempting an uncalculated shot that cost LSG momentum. Cameras soon caught Pooran’s animated reaction inside the dugout. In sheer frustration, he ripped off and flung his pad, clearly unhappy with Samad’s shot selection at such a crucial moment.

Despite the hiccup, LSG still managed to breach the 200-run mark, ending their innings at 205/7. Akash Deep capped it off with a six on the final ball, giving the scoreboard a boost. Earlier, Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh were the architects of LSG’s strong start, notching up a 115-run opening stand. Marsh scored a commanding 65, while Markram added 61.
