Lucknow Super Giants’ struggles with the bat in IPL 2026 have come under sharp focus, and much of that spotlight has fallen on Nicholas Pooran. The explosive left-hander, once known for his fearless stroke play, is enduring a rare slump—one that’s beginning to hurt LSG’s campaign at a crucial stage.

Despite boasting a power-packed batting lineup featuring Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram, LSG have struggled to find consistency. While their bowlers have bailed them out in a couple of matches, the batting unit has repeatedly failed to deliver. Pooran’s dip in form, in particular, has raised serious concerns within the camp.
The numbers tell a worrying story. Nicholas Pooran has managed just 42 runs in five matches, striking at under 80—figures that are far from acceptable in a format where he has historically dominated with a strike rate well above 170. His lack of intent at the crease has been equally surprising, especially for a player known to take on bowlers from ball one.

His struggles continued against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where he was dismissed for just one run off seven balls by Josh Hazlewood. It was another soft dismissal that reflected his ongoing lack of confidence and rhythm.
Interestingly, Pooran’s role change in the batting order could also be a contributing factor. With Rishabh Pant occupying the No. 3 spot this season, Nicholas Pooran has been pushed down to No. 4—a position where he hasn’t quite looked comfortable. Last season, most of his success came at No. 3, where he had the freedom to dictate terms early.

While speculation and fan theories have begun to circulate around his form, the reality is likely more straightforward—Pooran is simply going through a lean patch. For LSG to turn their season around, they will need their most destructive batter to rediscover his rhythm quickly.
I’m 100% confident Nicholas Pooran is ‘intentionally underperforming’ for LSG only cause Rishabh Pant took his rightful spot at number 3.
Look at his body language. He looks mentally broken.
Nicholas Pooran is always a happy and carefree individual but this season he looks very… pic.twitter.com/EB6c32agFK— Troll cricket unlimitedd (@TUnlimitedd) April 15, 2026
Nicholas Pooran really said “consistency is key” and delivered it, just not the kind anyone asked for 😭

Is Nicholas Pooran playing for the team or against it? 🧐 The lack of intent is suspicious. This needs a serious investigation! Sold or just finished? LSG fans deserve answers. 😡🏏 #IPL2026 #NicholasPooran #LSG #Fixing?
