Lucknow Super Giants’ Nicholas Pooran endured a rare lapse in judgment during their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, resulting in a bizarre dismissal that shifted momentum at a crucial stage. The incident occurred in the 14th over when Pooran attempted a sweep against Shivang Kumar.

Despite getting a faint edge, he assumed the ball had evaded the wicketkeeper and set off for a run, only to be caught short as Ishan Kishan calmly collected the ball and whipped off the bails. The misjudgment left LSG struggling at 105/4 while chasing 157. Earlier in the match, Mohammed Shami delivered a masterclass with the new ball, finishing with remarkable figures of 2/9 in four overs, including 18 dot balls.

His disciplined spell dismantled SRH’s top order, removing Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and skipper Kishan cheaply. Liam Livingstone also fell soon after, thanks to sharp glovework from LSG captain Rishabh Pant, leaving SRH reeling at 35/4.

However, the game took a dramatic turn as Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy counterattacked brilliantly. The duo stitched together a stunning 116-run partnership for the fifth wicket, shifting gears with aggressive strokeplay and putting LSG bowlers under pressure. Klaasen’s 62 off 41 balls and Reddy’s 56 off 33 deliveries powered SRH back into the contest.

Despite the onslaught, LSG fought back in the death overs, picking up wickets in quick succession to restrict SRH to 156/9. The middle phase, particularly overs 11 to 15, proved decisive as SRH plundered 79 runs, with Digvesh Rathi conceding heavily after a tight start.

In the end, Pooran’s costly error added to LSG’s challenges in the chase, underlining how small moments can significantly impact outcomes in high-pressure T20 contests.
