In the IPL 2024 clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC in Lucknow, Nicholas Pooran’s bat remained silent, but his fielding prowess shone brightly as he pulled off a remarkable catch to dismiss Prithvi Shaw. As Delhi Capitals chased a target of 168, they seemed comfortably positioned at 63 for 1 in the seventh over, with Shaw and debutant Fraser-McGurk building a promising partnership.

However, LSG desperately needed a breakthrough, and Pooran delivered when it mattered most. In the final delivery of the seventh over, Shaw attempted a slog sweep against leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi. Although he mistimed the shot, it seemed like the ball would land safely. Yet, Pooran dashed in from deep mid-wicket, diving forward to grab the ball just inches above the turf.

  

Prithvi Shaw departed after contributing 32 runs from 22 balls, including six boundaries. Delhi Capitals eventually won the game with 11 balls to spare, with captain Rishabh Pant and Fraser-McGurk playing match winning innings. Meanwhile, opener David Warner’s struggles continued as he was bowled for eight by Yash Thakur.

Turning to Lucknow Super Giants’ innings, they endured a rocky start but managed to post a competitive total of 167/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Initially struggling at 94 for 7 after 13 overs, Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan orchestrated a remarkable recovery with an unbeaten 73-run partnership for the eighth wicket.

Ayush Badoni showcased his brilliance with a quickfire 55 off 35 balls, while Arshad remained steadfast on 20 runs. As the match unfolds, Delhi Capitals are aiming for their second victory of the season, having secured just one win in their initial five games. Conversely, Lucknow Super Giants are eyeing their fourth consecutive victory, having bounced back from an opening loss to string together three successive wins.
