In recent times, the Sri Lankan cricket team has been losing are not threatening as they used to be. They were once a fierce team to beat when some of the greats like Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, etc used to play. With the players like that, Sri Lanka went on to beat many big teams and won several matches. Sri Lanka has been pretty good even in ICC events, reaching the World Cup final three times.

They have also reached the semifinals at the 2003 World Cup and the final of the 2011 World Cup, where they lost to India. Sri Lanka defeated Australia to win their first World Cup in 1996. However, the Lankans avenged the 2011 World Cup final defeat by beating India in the 2014 T20 World Cup final.

Ever since, great players like Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Muttiah Muralitharan, Sanath Jayasuriya, Lasith Malinga retired from the sport, the Island nation has now hit a new low in terms of their performances. They haven’t been able to win matches with the current bunch of players. They are currently in England for a brief tour (3 T20Is, 3 ODIs).

Sri Lanka witnessed yet another series of whitewash, this time at the hands of England. The hosts won the first game by 8 wickets and followed it up with a 5-wicket win. England won the third and final T20I by 89 runs to inflict a 3-0 whitewash over Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan players namely Niroshan Dickwella and Kusal Mendis were spotted having a ball after losing the T20I series. A video doing the rounds on social media shows both the players having some fun at a public place. Netizens slammed the players for breaching the bio-bubble.
