Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter, Nitish Rana made headlines after he liked a post highlighting the repeated failures of Ishan Kishan for the Indian team. Owing to his brilliant double century, Kishan has been given a long rope in Team India’s limited-overs setup. The wicket-keeper batsman, however, has been wasting his chances, to say the least.

Though Ishan Kishan was failing to perform in the three ODIs he featured in since his splendid 210, making scores of 17, 8, and 5, his T20I woes have been more noticeable. The same was brought to light by one of the analysts on Twitter, in which he listed Kishan’s scores in his last 13 T20I innings and got a like from Nitish Rana.

The wicket-keeper batter has failed to cross the 20-run mark in nine of those 13 occasions; his highest score in the period being 37(29) against Sri Lanka. The 24-year-old’s strike rotation and consistency issues shine like radium in the dark and have been the staple of his recent outings where he has made just 199 runs at a poor average and strike rate of 15.30 and 106.

Ishan Kishan, regardless, has been offered a lot of chances, especially in the T20Is, chances that have come at the cost of others in the queue like Prithvi Shaw, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Nitish Rana, who have all performed consistently in the last few IPL seasons.

Prithvi Shaw has been vocal about his absence from the T20I squad, and now, it appears Rana too is not pleased with the backing Kishan has been getting. Though Nitish Rana unliked the aforementioned post regarding Ishan Kishan after the netizens noticed the engagement, a stir was created by that time and fans appear to be divided into two halves regarding it.

Most of the supporters have lauded Nitish Rana for his decent showings in the Indian Premier League, arguing that he is much better against spin compared to Ishan Kishan and gives Team India a part-time bowling option as well. Others, however, have pointed out Rana’s own failures for the Men in Blue in the limited chances he has got and opine he is no better and shouldn’t complain.
