India’s rising seam-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has once again underlined his growing reputation in domestic cricket after claiming a sensational hat-trick for Andhra during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Super League stage. While Andhra eventually went down to Madhya Pradesh at the DY Patil Academy Ground in Ambi, Reddy’s performance stood out as a significant positive, reflecting his mindset of always giving his best regardless of the result.

Reddy finished with impressive figures of 3 for 17, registering the best T20 bowling performance of his senior career. That trick was also a personal milestone, marking his first at the senior level and reinforcing his belief in the importance of preparation and execution under pressure.
“The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is never an easy tournament to play,” Nitish Reddy said in a video shared by the BCCI on its domestic cricket platforms. “It’s one of the toughest leagues, so you have to give your best every single time. This is my first hat-trick in the senior category. I’ve got one earlier in age-group cricket, but the feeling is pretty similar. I always feel proud whenever I perform for my state or any team.”

The Andhra all-rounder’s hat-trick came in the third over of the innings, when he dismissed Harsh Gawli, Harpreet Bhatia, and Rajat Patidar in quick succession. Reddy credited careful planning, belief in his skills, and sticking to his strengths for pulling off the rare feat.

“I believed that the scrambled ball on the third delivery would come back in sharply,” he explained. “That’s exactly what happened. I got the inside edge, and everything fell into place.”

Reddy also drew confidence from past experiences, revealing that he had dismissed Patidar in a similar fashion during a previous Ranji Trophy encounter. “The plan was to target the top of off stump and get movement from there. If I could get that movement, it would be good enough,” he said.
By bowling into the wicket and using subtle seam movement, Reddy executed his plan to perfection. One delivery jagged in, another held its line just enough, and the final ball produced decisive movement to complete the hat-trick. For Reddy, the performance was a reminder that discipline, clarity, and belief remain the cornerstones of success in competitive domestic cricket.
