Team India’s injury woes continue to mount as promising all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remainder of the England tour. A knee injury sustained during a gym session revealed a ligament tear after scans, NDTV sources confirmed. This setback comes at a critical juncture ahead of the Manchester Test, which begins on July 23, with fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep also nursing injuries and being doubtful for the Old Trafford clash.

Reddy had already missed the series opener in Leeds but featured in the second and third Tests. Unfortunately, his contributions failed to leave a mark. At Edgbaston, he scored just one run in each innings and went wicketless. He showed slight improvement at Lord’s, scoring 43 runs combined and picking up three wickets, but the injury now cuts short what was shaping into a key developmental phase for the youngster.

Adding to concerns, Reddy skipped Sunday’s net session alongside senior players like Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Washington Sundar. Instead, the Indian squad, accompanied by head coach Gautam Gambhir, visited the Manchester United training facility, where Pant presented a signed bat to Bruno Fernandes.

In a light-hearted moment, Mohammed Siraj was seen bowling to Harry Maguire, but Reddy was notably absent—his exclusion confirming the severity of the injury. As a result, Anshul Kamboj has been added as a replacement and was spotted with the squad during their meet-up with the Red Devils’ stars.

Meanwhile, a recap of the Lord’s Test reveals just how close India came to a series lead. Despite dominating large portions of the match, India fell short by 22 runs, with Ravindra Jadeja left stranded after a bizarre dismissal of Siraj, where the ball trickled back onto the stumps. Jasprit Bumrah was once again phenomenal, claiming seven wickets, including a first-innings five-for, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory.

India now heads to Manchester with more injury questions than answers, hoping fresh faces like Kamboj can rise to the occasion.
