Nitish Reddy ruled out of Zimbabwe T20Is, Shivam Dube named replacement

Nitish Reddy, the middle-order batter has been ruled out of the upcoming five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe which could be his first taste of international cricket. While the exact injury was not revealed, the BCCI shared that its medical team is monitoring the 21-year-old’s progress as well.

Meanwhile, India Allrounder Shivam Dube has been named Nitish’s replacement for the Zimbabwe series as well. However, Dube is currently a part of the India squad in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 and he has played all games for the side so far. The 31-year-old middle-order batter has done well against Australia, Bangladesh and the USA as well.

Notably, India’s T20I squad for the Zimbabwe series will be led by young Shubman Gill, and the squad has now three players from the T20 World Cup squad – Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube as well. It is also noteworthy that, Gill was among the reserves for the T20 World Cup, along with Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan, who are all part of the squad for the Zimbabwe series as well.

The five-match T20I series will be played on July 6, 7, 10, 13 and 14, with the Harare Sports Club hosting all games as well.
