Former India batter Aakash Chopra has added that legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni has reportedly asked for a 25 percent stake in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and he called it unrealistic. He added that no franchise would give $400
million to anyone as well. Reports also suggested that Dhoni initially wanted to buy a 25 percent stake in CSK and subsequently lowered his demand to 20 percent as well. However, the franchise reportedly offered only a 5.5 percent stake to him as well.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “There was talk of 1.7 to 1.8 billion when RCB were bought just now. Chennai Super Kings is the same kind of franchise. You can do the valuation however you want, but this is the franchise that has five trophies and has multiple franchises outside India as well. They have got a legacy and a lot going for them. Chennai Super Kings is a serious, serious brand. If it is worth 1.8 billion and Dhoni has asked for a 25 percent stake in that, it’s unrealistic. This is not possible. No one gives 400 million to anyone.”

However, Aakash Chopra also added that MS Dhoni reportedly being offered even a 5.5 percent stake would be huge money.

“Then there was talk of 3.5 percent and 5.5 percent. I am saying that even if it is 5.5 percent, just think about how much money it is. Two percent, three percent, or five percent, that’s an incredible amount of money. I feel it’s a planted story. I don’t know who has planted it. Asking for 25 percent, then refusing 25 percent, then giving 3.5 percent, and then settling for 5.5 percent after an estrangement, I do feel that it’s not true,” Aakash Chopra cocnluded.
