Veteran KKR batter Rinku Singh has said that he isn’t thinking much about a call-up to the Indian team right now and he will look to keep doing his work after a breakthrough season in the IPL as well. However, Rinku was KKR’s star player this season and he has had a stunning season as well. He scored 474 runs which came at an average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.53. Rinku hit an unbeaten 67 to almost win the game for KKR against LSG on Saturday.
However, Shastri even included Rinku alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma as contenders to make India debut soon as well. But, Rinku isn’t thinking too much about a call up to the Indian team. While speaking at the post-match press conference, he said it was good to have a season like this and he isn’t thinking a lot about a call up to the national team now.
“It feels good to have a season like this. I’m not thinking too much about the Indian team selection. Now when I head home, I will go back to my routine practice, gym. I will just keep doing my work,” said Rinku Singh.
However, it was the five sixes he smashed against GT in the final over and helped KKR win that made him a household name in the IPL. He again said that ever since he pulled off that feat, he has been getting a lot of respect from people as well.
“My family is very happy. People used to know me before. The last few knocks I played, people started to know about me. But ever since I hit those five sixes in the game against GT, I’ve started to get a lot more respect and many more have started to recognize me. So it feels good,” concluded Rinku Singh.
