6. Mumbai Indians

Harbhajan Singh was named the temporary captain of the Mumbai Indians for the Champions League T20 of 2011 as Sachin was injured at the time. Bhajji led the MI team to glory as they were crowned the champions.

In the following IPL season, MI saw a change as their captain. Right before the tournament opener in 2012, Sachin Tendulkar stepped down as the skipper and Bhajji replaced him.

Ricky Ponting was bought by MI in 2013 and was named the captain of the side. Having said that, there was a lot of buzz as Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar opened the innings for Mumbai and was nicknamed “Pondulkar”. However, the things didn’t get so well for the team as Ponting failed to deliver as expected and stepped down.

Rohit Sharma replaced Pontinng and the decision worked miraculously as Mumbai Indians went on to win the title for the first time. He is still the captain of Mumbai and will lead them for the fourth consecutive year having won the trophy twice.
