Adelaide Oval has always been the venue where the Indian stalwart, Virat Kohli loves scoring runs and nothing changed in the T20 World Cup 2022 game against Bangladesh. Virat played a match-winning knock of 64 runs off just 44 deliveries, including 8 fours and a mighty six. Just after Virat’s heroic knock against Bangladesh, a 6-year-old video of MS Dhoni went viral in which the former captain applauded Virat’s performance in the Adelaide Oval.

MS Dhoni has applauded Kohli’s Herculean performance at Adelaide and the video has been going viral as Virat has made a habit of pilling runs at the Adelaide Oval and more often than not helped Team India to win games.

India’s legendary captain was asked about Virat’s love affair with the Adelaide Oval to which Dhoni had a hilarious response. MS Dhoni in 2016 said while replying to an anchor’s question about Virat in Adelaide, “They’ll be naming a stand after Virat Kohli in Adelaide, the way he’s scoring runs at that ground”.

MS Dhoni had also said that with the consistency at which Virat bats on Australian grounds, he might have a stand in most of the Australian grounds. Virat was adjudged Man of the Match for his crucial knock and in the post-match conversation, Harsha Bhogle also asked him about his unbelievable record at the Adelaide Oval.

Responding to Bhogle’s question Virat said, “As soon as I knew the World Cup was in Australia, I was grinning from ear to ear. I knew the kind of experience and game awareness of having played in Australia would come in handy for the team. I absolutely love playing in this ground. Right from the nets at the back, as soon as I enter, it makes me feel at home. That knock at MCG was meant to be, but when I come here, it’s like I’m meant to come to Adelaide and enjoy my batting.”

Virat has played nine matches in Adelaide in which he has amassed 843 runs which include centuries in both innings in the 2014 Test which was also his first Test as captain.
