On day four of the Melbourne Test, the on-field umpires warned the Aussie captain and wicketkeeper Tim Paine as well as the Indian young wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant for their respective on-field actions.
Tim Paine and Rishabh Pant banter continued on the fourth day of the Test match. On day three, Paine had banter with Pant where he called Pant a babysitter and invited him for a dinner.
Paine said, “I tell you what, big MS (Dhoni) is back in the One-Day squad, we might get (Pant) down to the Hurricanes, this bloke. We need a batter. Fancy that, surely, extend your little Aussie holiday, Beautiful town, Hobart, too. Get you a nice apartment on the waterfront. Have you over for dinner you Babysit? I’ll take the wife to the movies one night and you’ll look after the kids?”

Later, on day four, Pant trolled Paine on his temporary captaincy role. When Paine came to bat, the young wicketkeeper Pant decided to continue the banter.
The stump mic caught Pant’s voice which was, “We’ve got a special guest today…..have you heard of a temporary captain ever? You don’t need anything to get him out boys. He loves to talk, that’s the only thing he can do, only talking talking.”

Soon, the on-field umpire Ian Gould warned Pant for his comments as the umpire felt that it was not a cool thing. However, Paine was cool and focusing on his batting, who scored 26 runs before getting out.
Meanwhile, Paine was warned by the Marais Erasmus on the early morning of day four when Pant was batting. As Pant was batting in a good way, Australian pacer Pat Cummins delivered a wide down the leg side. Erasmus soon called a wide-ball as he felt it was a deliberate programme by the host nation to keep away Pant from the strike at the beginning of the next over. Even the commentators also felt that Paine had the position slightly towards the leg-side for that particular ball.
Erasmus explained the Aussie skipper, “If he had bowled a ball down leg and then you had then dived, I would not have deemed it to be deliberate.”
