Former Indian player Kris Srikkanth questioned the selection of Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder Vipraj Nigam for the upcoming 2026 Asian Games as well. However, he was recently named as the replacement for the injured Varun Chakaravarthy in the squad as well. Vipraj, however, struggled in IPL 2026, scoring 15 runs and claiming only two wickets
in five outings. But, he impressed in his most recent competitive assignment, the Sri Lanka A team tri-series in June as well.

Talking about Vipraj Nigam, K Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel, Cheeky Cheeka, “How did Vipraj Nigam get into the squad out of nowhere? On what basis has he been picked? Is he such a great bowler to be picked as a like-for-like for Varun Chakaravarthy? You can’t dish out the Indian cap like this to everyone. It’s like you can purchase an Indian cap in a shop now.”

Kris Srikkanth also questioned the continued exclusion of RCB stars Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Krunal Pandya and Rajat Patidar from the Indian T20I teams for the upcoming Asian Games and the West Indies series as well. The trio played key roles in RCB winning their second consecutive IPL title earlier this year as well.

“What wrong have Rajat Patidar, Krunal Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar done in life? Some of these selections are baffling. Age cannot be the only decider, as it seems to be with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya. It’s also about capability and performance,” concluded K Srikkanth. “The younger players have to push these guys out through performances. But have Yash Thakur or Ravi Bishnoi done that through performances? Definitely not. These guys don’t even fit into the 11 for IPL teams.”
