England and India both will be under pressure, as well as feel the mental and physical strain as they near the conclusion of a five-match Test series. Ahead of the fifth and last match of the five-match Test series, India captain Shubman Gill commented on the relationship between them after the multiple on-field incidents.

“The relationship is fantastic. When you’re on the field, you’re trying to win; both teams have been very competitive and sometimes in the heat of the moment things happen. But once the match is over there is mutual respect, so there are no regrets for anything that has happened on the field,” Shubman Gill said at the pre-match perss conference.

However, it started with Shubman Gill’s criticism of Zak Crawley for allegedly taking a lot of time at Lord’s and came to Ravindra Jadeja’s refusal to stop the game on the final day at Old Trafford before reaching hundreds. And now the series reaches its climax as well. Meanwhile, head coach Gautam Gambhir also got involved in a heated confrontation with Oval curator Lee Fortis two days before the game.

When asked if he sees any issue with hospitality on India’s trip to England, Gill added: “No, nothing of that sort. These are three separate moments, not related at all. I’ve already explained what happened at Lord’s and in the last test match. What happened yesterday was, I thought, absolutely unnecessary. It’s not the first time we were having a look at the wicket. We’ve been here for almost two months, and a coach has every right to look at the wicket up close. I don’t know why the curator wouldn’t allow us.”
“Not really. Once you’re done with the match, you move on to the next one and want to play as competitively and as well as you can. For us, it doesn’t really matter what happened in the last match, good or bad. Whatever happened in the last game is gone. We want to move on and perform our best in the next one,” Shubman Gill concluded.
