The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had earlier filed a case for compensation against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) last year prior to the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s Dispute Resolution Committee who have demanded around USD 70 million. However, ICC has already dismissed the case and asked PCB to compensate BCCI for the legal cost. Meanwhile, PCB has paid approximately USD 1.6 million to BCCI as the compensation after being lost the case to BCCI regarding the bilateral agreement.

PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani commented on that on Monday. “We incurred cost of around USD 2.2 million on the compensation case which we lost,” Mani said. “The ICC committee did accept that Pakistan had a case and that is why the damages/cost we had to pay to the Indian board was around USD 1.6 million,” Mani further added.

However, Mani further said that the amount which they have paid to India to cover the legal cost was the other expenses which were related to their legal fees and travel. The agreement was a binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which ensured six bilateral series between 2015 and 2023 according to the Pakistan Cricket Board. Pakistan said the BCCI has backed out from the commitment as it costs millions of dollars.

The BCCI, however, said that their discussion with PCB was never a legally binding Memorandum of Understanding and was only a proposal.
