The Pakistan cricket team’s arrival in Australia for a three-match Test series has been marred by an unexpected incident. Upon reaching the airport, the team was left to handle their own luggage, with no representatives from the Australian or Pakistani embassies present to welcome them. A video of the players loading their luggage onto a truck has gone viral on social media, raising questions about the hospitality extended to the visiting team.
This incident is in stark contrast to the usual practice of welcoming touring teams with open arms. It’s customary for teams to be greeted by representatives of the host country and their own embassy, ensuring a smooth and comfortable start to their tour. The lack of such protocol has left the Pakistani players feeling slighted and disappointed.

Despite this unpleasant start, the Pakistan team is focused on the task at hand, which is to challenge the reigning World Test Champions, Australia, in their own backyard. Pakistan’s Test record in Australia is dismal, having never won a series Down Under. However, under the leadership of new captain Shan Masood, the team is determined to rewrite history.

“When you have not achieved something in history, then you have an opportunity to change it. So we will make an effort to produce positive results for Pakistan and for the World Test championship,” Shan Masood stated in a recent interview.
The series will begin with a four-day warm-up match against Prime Ministers XI in Canberra on December 6, followed by the first Test in Perth on December 14. The second and third Tests will be held in Melbourne (December 26-30) and Sydney (January 3-7), respectively.
