India and Pakistan are both cricket-obsessed nations and when their teams clash in a multi-nation tournament, the excitement reaches a fever pitch. Victories are celebrated with the fervour of festivals, while defeats are often unbearable. Pakistani fans, known for their passionate reactions, have been seen smashing television sets when their team loses to India.
However, this year’s hype around the India vs. Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup 2024 tragically escalated into violence and bloodshed. According to Pakistani media, a shocking incident unfolded in Lahore before the highly anticipated match in New York on June 9.
A YouTuber named Saad Ahmed went to the city’s mobile market to film a vlog capturing the pre-match atmosphere. While interviewing various people about their thoughts on the India-Pakistan encounter, he approached a security guard who was reluctant to be filmed.

The situation quickly turned tragic when the security guard, frustrated by repeated questioning, lost his temper and shot Saad. Eyewitnesses reported that Saad was immediately rushed to the hospital, but he was declared dead upon arrival.
One of Saad’s friends shared with Pakistan’s Geo TV that Saad had called him before leaving home to shoot the video. It was also revealed that Saad was the sole breadwinner for his family, adding to the tragedy of his untimely death.
On June 4, YouTuber Saad Ahmed was fatally shot while filming the T20 World Cup excitement in Karachi. He was interviewing shopkeepers when security guard Gul Hassan allegedly opened fire. The guard has been detained, and investigations are ongoing.

The incident was also highlighted on Instagram by an account named khattti.meethi.baateinn, which shared the news of Saad’s murder along with one of his old videos. The caption included a statement from the security guard, explaining his actions: “He kept on bringing the mic close to my face and filming. I lost my temper and fired at him,” the guard reportedly said.

CCTV footage showed the interaction between Saad and the guard moments before the shooting. According to reports, the local police have apprehended the security guard responsible for the shooting.
This tragic incident underscores the intense emotions and pressures surrounding high-stakes cricket matches, particularly between India and Pakistan, where the sport is deeply intertwined with national pride and identity.
