The South African skipper, Dean Elgar was adjudged LBW by the on-field umpire Marais Erasmus on Day 4 of the ongoing Test against India in Cape Town. However, the decision was overturned by the Decision Review System (DRS) and that has caught the limelight in the world of cricket. All the drama started when Ravichandran Ashwin trapped Elgar in front of the stumps.

At first sight, it looked as if Dean Elgar had been found plumb in front of the stumps, but DRS confirmed that the ball was missing the stumps, and overturned the decision of Marais Erasmus. This took even the on-field umpire by surprise. The Indian players were angry and were not happy with the decision. India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey was asked about the Dean Elgar incident and he replied that everyone saw what transpired in the middle.

Paras Mhambrey also added that he will leave the final call to the match referee, and would prefer to focus on the third Test match between the two teams. While talking to the media, he said, “We saw it, you saw it. I will leave it to the match referee to have a look at it. I have nothing more to say, we have seen it all, we want to just move on with the game now.”

Paras Mhambrey was also quizzed about the way the Indian players reacted to the incident, and the bowling coach quipped that sometimes emotions would also come into play as well on the field of play.

He said, “Indian bowling coach (in Press) said “Every individual is trying his best, sometimes at the moments like this, people do say some things, and it is a game. It would be fair that we move on, let’s not take this further.”

However, India had the last laugh as Dean Elgar was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah off the final delivery of the day. South Africa ended the third day with their scoreboard reading a commanding 101/2, and only need 111 more runs for victory with 8 wickets in hand. The winner of the third Test match will win the three-match Test series between the two sides.
