Gill’s captaincy has been a standout feature this season. With 508 runs from 11 matches, he’s not only setting the tone with the bat but also displaying the maturity and temperament of a seasoned leader. Whether it’s rotating bowlers smartly or keeping the team focused during pressure situations, Gill’s influence has been evident.

What’s been particularly notable is his emotional intensity—unafraid to engage with match officials or rally his troops vocally, he’s shown he isn’t afraid of the spotlight. Speaking after the win, Gujarat Titans’ assistant coach Parthiv Patel praised Gill’s leadership.

“Shubman’s been excellent—both with the bat and as a captain. He’s been guiding the younger players, sharing insights, and his game awareness has been top-notch. You can feel his presence in the dressing room, which is exactly what you want from a leader,” Parthiv Patel remarked.

Tuesday’s clash wasn’t without its challenges. Frequent rain interruptions made it hard for GT to build momentum. The top order, unusually, didn’t produce a fifty, and the middle order struggled to hold the innings together as the game headed into a tense finish. But late cameos from Gerald Coetzee and Rahul Tewatia helped seal the deal.

“Our middle order hasn’t had many chances this season. Today was a rare test, and though we stumbled, we got through. There’s still room for better decisions under pressure,” Parthiv Patel concluded, as GT continues to chase consistency heading into the playoffs.
