The veteran Indian wicket-keeper batsman, Parthiv Patel reckons that the Indian opener, Rohit Sharma is a little ahead of the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli in terms of decision making in pressure situations and reading the game. Notably, Parthiv plays under the captaincy of Kohli for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Currently, Virat leads India across formats with Rohit being the deputy skipper in limited-overs cricket. There are constant calls for split captaincy in the Indian team since Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians to a fifth title in the IPL. Rohit Sharma has also led India to an Asia Cup title in Virat Kohli’s absence.

Virat Kohli is India’s most successful Test skipper with 33 victories in 55 tests, and India won 62 among 89 ODIs and 22 among 37 T20Is under him. Rohit Sharma captained the Indian team in 10 ODIs and 20 T20Is winning 8 and 16 games respectively. Rohit, who was made the captain of MI mid-season in 2013, won the title that year, followed by victories in 2015, 2017. 2019, and 2020. On the other hand, Virat Kohli doesn’t have a single IPL trophy in his 8-year tenure leading the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Describing the same on a show on Star Sports, Parthiv Patel said, “The point here is that who can make a better decision, who can read the game better? Who will make a decision in a pressure situation that will help the team win? And in that case, Rohit Sharma is a little ahead.”
