Former Indian wicket-keeper batter Parthiv Patel has made a bold assertion in calling Kieron Pollard the best all-rounder in Indian Premier League history. In a stunning snub, he left out contemporary stars such as Hardik Pandya, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, and Sunil Narine, instead opting for his former Mumbai Indians team-mate for the coveted honour.

Parthiv Patel, who represented six IPL teams over his career spanning 12 years—Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Deccan Chargers, and Sunrisers Hyderabad—spoke his mind during a Cricbuzz discussion. Asked to choose the greatest all-rounder in IPL history, he didn’t think twice before mentioning Pollard.
Kieron Pollard, who played for Mumbai Indians from 2010 to 2022, was a pillar of their success. Across his 13-year-long IPL career, the former West Indies captain featured in 189 matches, amassing 3,412 runs while also chipping in with 69 wickets. His ability to single-handedly change games with both bat and ball made him a true match-winner.

One of the prominent members of Mumbai’s golden period, Kieron Pollard was central to MI’s five IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. He was also instrumental in their two Champions League T20 victories in 2011 and 2014. In the rich history of MI, he remains the franchise’s second-highest run scorer and even led the team in six games.

After retiring as a player, Kieron Pollard moved to being a coach and was hired as Mumbai Indians’ batting coach before the 2023 season. He will do likewise for IPL 2025, bringing his long experience to the team.
Mumbai Indians are preparing for IPL 2025 and will start their journey on March 23 against traditional rivals Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium. In their second game, they will play Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad on March 29, and their first home match against reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium on March 31.
