Parthiv Patel Point-out Best Gloveman For India in T20 WC

In recent times, there have been a lot of discussions regarding India’s future wicket-keeper batsman. However, Parthiv Patel has now given his opinions on his choice for the role. Patel, who is the youngest gloveman to have played in Test cricket for India, talked about the matter during the latest episode of ‘Lockdown But Not Out’ series by FanCode.

The Gujarat player said that he reckons in limited-overs cricket, KL Rahul is the first-choice keeper for Team India. The left-handed batsman also pointed out that the Karnataka batsman could India’s short-term option, looking at the ICC men’s T20 World Cup, which is scheduled later this year.

Parthiv said, “At this point in time, KL Rahul. I feel Rahul is your short-term thing in a way if you’re thinking of the World Cup. I think he’ll do the job for you during the World Cup, there’s no doubt about it.”

As far as Rishabh Pant is concerned, giving an example of himself, Patel stated that he feels that Delhi keeper should go back and play a couple of years of domestic cricket. He also said that the young keeper has a lot of talent in him. He revealed that he has also advised the same to Pant himself.

Parthiv explained, “Rishabh Pant definitely has it in him. If I put myself into his shoes when I was 17-18, I didn’t have a good series, and going back to domestic cricket for a couple of years helped me a lot. I’ve always told him that people are talking about you because you’ve talent in you. Sometimes, you have to go back to domestic cricket and just get that form back.”

Talking about Jasprit Bumrah, Parthiv opined that he had mentioned about the right-arm quick to Virat Kohli ahead of an IPL auction. At that time, Patel was a member of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team.

Parthiv recalled, “I told Virat that this is the guy, we should be picking him! But obviously, Mumbai Indians outwitted RCB and he went to Mumbai Indians.”
