Team India continued their dominant run against Bangladesh, following up on their Test series victory with a comprehensive win in the first T20I. Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the side featured several fresh faces, most notably young pacer Mayank Yadav. The 22-year-old speedster, who caught everyone’s eye during IPL 2024 with Lucknow Super Giants, made an impressive international debut, delivering on the hype that surrounded him.

Bowling his full quota of four overs, Mayank Yadav conceded just 21 runs and bagged a crucial wicket, even managing to bowl a maiden over—an exceptional feat for a debutant. His performance earned him high praise, particularly from former India cricketer Parthiv Patel, who admired how well the young pacer handled the pressure of expectations.

“The highlight for me is Mayank Yadav. The way he made his debut, carrying the weight of expectations and still delivering is commendable. Bowling at 150 kmph is no small task, especially with all eyes on you. He showed great composure and has been the standout player today,” said Parthiv Patel on Sports18.

In the match, Bangladesh batted first but struggled to build momentum, posting a modest total of 127 runs. Contributions came from Najmul Hossain Shanto (27) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who remained unbeaten with a fighting 35. India’s bowlers were clinical, with Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy claiming three wickets each, while Hardik Pandya, Mayank Yadav, and Washington Sundar chipped in with one wicket apiece.
