Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins has been fined ₹12 lakh by the IPL governing body for a slow over-rate during his team’s emphatic 42-run victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday night. This penalty comes under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with maintaining the minimum over-rate during matches.

The IPL issued an official statement confirming the penalty, stating, “As it was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, Cummins was fined ₹12 Lakh.”

Despite the fine, Cummins was pleased with his team’s performance. He acknowledged that the win came a bit late in a largely disappointing campaign. “Little bit too late this season but a good all-round effort with both bat and ball,” he said after the match.

He also highlighted the impact of Nitish Reddy’s return to bowling, stating that it gave SRH a genuine sixth bowling option. He added, “Abhishek’s always telling me he’s a good option too—I might start using him more.”
Batting first, SRH posted a commanding total of 231/6, thanks largely to a brilliant unbeaten 94 off 48 balls from Ishan Kishan, who hit seven boundaries and five sixes. RCB, in response, got off to a flying start with an 80-run opening stand between Phil Salt and Virat Kohli. However, once the openers departed, their chase unravelled, and they were bowled out for 189.

Reflecting on his personal performance and SRH’s overall season, Kishan was honest in his assessment: “Not so happy with the performance overall. We could’ve done better. I could’ve done much more. But it’s a game of learning—you keep believing and working hard.”
