Australian Test captain Pat Cummins has outlined a cautious recovery plan after scans revealed a lumbar bone stress injury, ruling him out of Australia’s upcoming white-ball series against New Zealand and India. The 32-year-old pace spearhead confirmed he will take a complete break from bowling and limit his running over the next month to ensure full fitness ahead of the Ashes.

Cummins is also expected to skip the Sheffield Shield matches, with his primary focus on returning in time for the opening Ashes Test in Perth on November 21.
“I’d imagine I’d want to be bowling at least a month out, maybe six weeks,” Pat Cummins told cricket.com.au. “But I’ve not thought too deeply about it yet. We’ve got plenty of time, so we’ll map out a way back closer to the series. For now, it’s pretty light—no bowling and minimal running.”

“We’re really well-placed,” he said. “Planning for the Ashes has been in motion for over a year. Jhye Richardson should be available, and there’s Michael Neser, Brendan Doggett, Sean Abbott, plus Shield and white-ball cricket to get everyone ready.”
Scott Boland, a proven performer in home conditions, is another backup option, ensuring Australia’s attack remains formidable.
