Sunrisers Hyderabad are set for an even bigger boost in IPL 2026, with regular captain Pat Cummins expected to rejoin the squad soon. SRH have already bounced back in style, crushing Rajasthan Royals by 57 runs on Monday to halt a worrying run of form. After losing three of their first four matches, the Hyderabad side had been under pressure, but their latest win while defending 217 has restored momentum at a crucial stage of the tournament.
The victory was built on a standout bowling display from debutant pacers Sakib Hussain and Praful Hinge, who ripped through the Rajasthan Royals batting order and claimed four wickets each. Their combined impact turned what could have been a tricky defence into a dominant result, giving SRH plenty of confidence heading into the next phase of the season.
According to a Cricbuzz report, Pat Cummins is due to undergo a fitness test in Australia on Wednesday. If he clears it, the franchise is optimistic that he will be available soon.

A source familiar with the development said, “Hopefully, he will clear the test and get the NOC from Cricket Australia.” Cummins is currently expected back in Hyderabad on April 17.

The Australian quick has not played a competitive game since the Ashes series against England at home. He also missed the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2026, where Australia were shockingly knocked out in the group stage.
Pat Cummins had arrived in India before the IPL but did not feature in any match, later flying back to Australia after SRH’s thrilling win over Kolkata Knight Riders on April 2 for scans on a back issue.

In his absence, Ishan Kishan has taken over the captaincy. SRH have won two of their five matches under his leadership and currently sit fourth on the points table with four points and a net run rate of +0.576. With Pat Cummins potentially returning soon, Sunrisers Hyderabad will hope to build on their much-needed win and strengthen their push up the IPL 2026 standings.
