Ashwin handed the fourth over of the innings to Axar Patel. Gautam Gambhir seized the opportunity and hit 17 runs off the left-arm spinner. He scored a couple of fours followed by a six.

Patel did not get to bowl in the powerplay after his expensive over. He bowled the first over after the powerplay. With a single to deep midwicket on the first delivery, Gambhir gave the strike to Iyer, who hit a towering six over the bowler’s head. Within no time, Patel had conceded 24 runs in eight balls.

On the penultimate delivery of the over, Patel came back from behind to take revenge from Iyer. Having seen the flighted delivery, the batsman had stepped out only to miss the ball and get stumped by Lokesh Rahul. Patel provided his team with the much needed wicket.
