During India’s tour of Sri Lanka in 2009, Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan staged a fightback to win the one-off T20I for India at Colombo. Having won the toss, Tillakaratne Dilshan, the then Sri Lankan captain, won the toss and chose to bat.
Dilshan led from the front as he scored 61 (47) with the help of seven fours and a six. With bowling figures of 4-0-23-2, Yusuf Pathan was the pick of the Indian bowlers.
In the second innings, the Sri Lankan bowlers drew first blood as India lost Virender Sehwag (1) and Gautam Gambhir (13) on consecutive deliveries. Eventually, they got reduced to 6/110 in the 15th over.
Needing 57 runs from 29 balls, India were counting upon the services of the Pathan brothers in a bid to turn the tides. The duo did not disappoint as India sealed the match with four balls to spare.
