Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh has found himself under growing scrutiny during IPL 2026, with attention shifting beyond his on-field performances to his recent social media activity. The left-arm fast bowler, known for his lively personality and fan-friendly online presence, recently faced criticism after responding sharply to a supporter who suggested removing “Punjab” from the franchise’s name.

The controversy emerged at a crucial stage of the season, with PBKS fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive ahead of a must-win clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. However, the franchise management has now stepped in to calm the situation and publicly back one of their key players.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Punjab Kings Head of Sports Science Andrew Leipus dismissed concerns surrounding Arshdeep’s attitude and insisted the India pacer has remained fully committed within the dressing room despite the outside noise.

“I don’t follow a lot of social media myself, so I know there’s been some chatter around vlogging and other things, but I’m not fully across it,” Andrew Leipus said. “In terms of his behaviour, Arshdeep has been very steady. He doesn’t get too high or too low and always gives his best for the team.”

Leipus also revealed that Arshdeep has been dealing with physical restrictions during the tournament, which may have impacted his rhythm and consistency this season. According to the PBKS support staff, the team has been working closely with the pacer to address those concerns.
“We’ve been working on a few things physically, and there may have been some restrictions affecting his performances. We feel we’ve identified the issue and are moving in the right direction,” Andre Leipus added.

Arshdeep, who played a major role in India’s recent ICC tournament successes, has struggled to produce his best form consistently in IPL 2026. Nevertheless, the Punjab Kings camp remains confident about his mindset and professionalism. Andrew Leipus also praised captain Shreyas Iyer and Arshdeep for maintaining composure during a difficult run for the franchise as PBKS continue battling to stay alive in the playoff race.
