On Saturday (November 10), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially terminated the Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Multan Sultans’ franchise agreement with Schon Properties Broker LLC after they have failed to meet its financial obligations.
At present, PCB is holding back all the rights of the team and it will not harm the PSL 2019 tournament that will be played from February 14 to March 17, 2019, between the six teams with 34 matches have been scheduled.

The Multan Sultan is now being referred to as “The Sixth Team” during the players’ draft that will be held on November 20, 2018. At next, PCB will now organise a public tender for fresh bid where the team will get a new rights holder with the option of choosing the city and its name.
In this matter, the PCB chairman Ehsan Mani said, “I want to reassure our partners – franchisees, sponsors, players, coaches and fans – that the Pakistan Super League will take place as planned. Our preparations are in full swing starting with the PSL Draft in Islamabad. The 2019 edition of the PSL will be a memorable one with as many as eight matches including the play-offs and the final scheduled to take place in Pakistan.”
Meanwhile, the president of the Schon Group, Asher Schon said about this termination, “It has been a privilege being a PSL team owner over the past year. I am proud of the support Schon has always extended to Pakistan cricket and current affairs notwithstanding, will continue to passionately support it.”

While the first two PSL editions ran with five teams, Multan Sultans joined in the third edition of the tournament (PSL 2018) as the sixth team. Shoaib Malik led the side in the last PSL where they failed to qualify for the playoffs as they finished at the fifth position with nine points in 10 matches.
